Hypertension

Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disease and the primary cause of stroke. Our hypertension models are based on congenic and inbred rat models. We offer both SHR, Dahl/Salt-sensitive (Dahl SS/JrHsd) rat and Doca-salt induced hypertension models, which have characteristics of human hypertension.

The study setup typically includes reference compounds like ACE inhibitor or AT1 receptor antagonist, with PO, IP, IM and SC dosing. Our hypertension models includes measurements of the relevant parameters, like blood pressure, heart rate (tail cuff), clinical signs and general behavior as well as monitoring of the gross parameters like body mass, food and water intake etc. Also parameters like insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, hypercholesterolemia, nephropathy, cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure can be measured.

Hypercholesterolemia

We offer a mice model lacking a functional LDL cholesterol receptor (homozygous). These mice spontaneously develop elevated cholesterol levels.

A typical study setup includes measurements of the relevant parameters, like blood triglyceride and cholesterol levels as well as monitoring of the gross parameters like body mass, food and water intake etc.

ECG, HR and BP models with telemetry instrument

Cardiovascular parameters such as blood pressure and heart rate can be measured in conscious, free-‐moving rats/guinea pigs using telemetry systems. The typical telemetry system generally consists of an implantable transmitter, a receiver unit, a pressure reference module and data acquisition software. The experimental models using conscious animals for measuring cardiovascular parameter are becoming more prevalent due to the fact that complicating effects of the anaesthetic agent on the cardiovascular systems is avoided. This study is done using rats or guinea pigs.
