The formalin induced persistent pain model is based on formalin caused tissue injury. It is used to assess the analgesic efficacy of the new compounds in pain with tissue damage.

Thermal pain reflex

The thermal pain reflex model measures the efficacy of the new compound to alleviate the pain induced by footpad being in contact with a heated surface. The latency time of the first hind paw response is measured in mice or rats.

Acetic acid induced writhing

The Acetic Acid induced writhing is a very good model to evaluate the analgesic or antinociceptive effect or activity of a drug molecule in mice or rats. Before inducing the writhing, animals are dosed with the reference compound or the test compound. The writhing is induced by intraperitoneal injection acetic acid in distilled water.

Tail flick latency model

The tail flick latency test is animal model of acute pain test in mice or rats. The pre-‐treatment latency of tail flick response (initial reaction time) is noted down for each animal. The analgesic effect of the test drug can be evaluated by increase in the tail flick latency period.
